Caroline Larboulette
Universidad Rey Juan Carlos

In this class dedicated to character animation, we will see the different steps involved from modeling to animation.  Modeling includes the creation of a polygonal mesh, texturing and creating a skeleton.  Animation includes skinning animation, motion paths, blendshapes for facial animation and an overview of additional layers such as muscles, hair, wrinkles and clothes.

Caroline Larboulette has been an associate professor of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos since 2007.  Her main research interests include animation, simulation, modeling, computational aesthetics and global illumination.  She obtained her PhD of Computer Science in 2004 from the French National Institute of Applied Sciences on the topic of real-time character animation before she joined the Grupo de Modelado y Realidad Virtual.  She is the president of the Madrid ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter and the co-chair of the ACM SIGGRAPH / Eurographics Symposium on Computer Animation 2010 that will take place in Madrid.
